Custom Plaque FAQ's
What Are Plaques?
Great question! Most
award plaques are made of wood and come in many shapes and sizes. They are used to recognize a special achievement or to show appreciation. Styles include: custom engraved plaques, perpetual plaques, certificate plaques and photo plaques. There are also speciality plaques, for example, with gavels or shovels to help recognize special achievements.
They are a great way to show appreciation to employees and volunteers. They are also used to recognize academic, sports or business feats. Wood is laser engraved with the persons name, date and achievement. It can also include a company name. Be sure to see our popular
engraved plaques section.
Are Custom Plaques Available in Different Finishes?
Yes, TrophyCentral features several popular wood finishes, such as Cherry, Walnut and Oak. A black finish is also quite popular and gives a more modern look. We also feature different color engraving plates.
How Much Do Plaque Awards Weigh?
Weight depends on its size. Typically a small wood plaque weighs less than a pound. A larger one can weigh more than 5 or 6 pounds.

How Long Does It Take To Make An Award Plaque?
Ordering awards online is fast. Typically your plaque is made and ships the same day your order is placed or the next day, depending on the time we receive your order.
What Should I Have Engraved On My Plaque?
This is a question we get often. There is no right or wrong answer, but at a minimum you should include:
The recipient's name
The company or organization name
A description of the achievement
A date or season
Photo plaques include a slot for your favorite picture. This is a wonderful way to add a special memory.
What Is The Most Popular Size Plaque?
There is no one most popular size and it depends on the magnitude of the award and the buyer's budget. Generally, plaques for younger children tend to be smaller, for example 7" x 9" or at most, 8" x 10". The same would be true for adults when the achievement is more frequent (say employee of the month). For special events and recognition, a larger plaque, such as 8" x10" or 9" x 12" may be more appropriate.
